Plus: Good Size and strength... Moves the puck up ice well... Plays a physical, punishing game... Good heavy shot... | Minus: Offensive game has regressed... Off-ice distractions have cast a cloud... |
Organizational Comments: "He has good size, a big, strong guy, physical, He can shoot the puck. He's a strong skater." Jim Nill - Wings Assistant General Manager |
What GRC says: 2012-13: Lost the last blueline spot to Fournier late in the season and could not crack the playoff roster. Nicastro played well in spurts but was the victim of the numbers game, something that will probably impede him again next year with ten defenseman on the depth chart in Grand Rapids. Needs to play physically more consistently to stay in the lineup. Fall 2012: A big stay at home defenseman with a cannon of a point shot, Nicastro is looking for a fresh start as a pro after a trying college career marred by an off-ice incident. He won't provide much offense but can move the puck out of harms way and makes it tough for opposing forwards in his own end.
