What GRC says: 2012-13: Played well enough in the second half to nail down the sixth spot on the blueline going into the playoffs. He held his own in the first round before coming out when Lashoff came back. Time is running out for the former junior scoring ace to establish his offensive game, and he will have a difficult time staying high enough on the depth chart to stay out of the ECHL next season.
2011-12: Fournier saw spot duty down the stretch, subbing for injured players and recalls between stints in the ECHL. The smooth skating blueliner was not an impact player, but looked good at times. His propensity for bad penalties cost him more playing time as he adjusted to the speed of the AHL while still recovering from off-season shoulder surgery. He should challenge for a spot on the Griffins backend next season especially if he can quarterback the stagnant powerplay. Fall 2011: An offensive defenseman with elite wheels, Fournier will have a lot of work ahead of him to learn how to play defense. He can move around the ice like Paul Coffey and should be an ace on the powerplay if he plays in GR this season. Fournier is currently recovering from shoulder surgery. |
