What GRC says: 2010-11: Janik finally settled down in the second half, regaining his form from last season as a physical two-way rearguard with a mean streak. The steady vet rang up 15 points in his last 34 games and posted a team high+12 defensive rating during that span. His calming presence did wonders for Brian Lashoff among others. With a year remaining on his contract he should be back for another season of mentoring the organizations young defensemen.
2009-10: Janik followed up his strong first half with a stronger second half, posting career highs in offensive numbers. He also showed he had what it takes to play at the next level during a stint in Detroit that drew raves from coach Babcock. An unrestricted free agent, Janik isn't likely to return, having played well enough to be in a position to entertain NHL job offers for next season Summer 2009: A veteran defensive defenseman, Janik will be tasked with calming down the stable full of young blueliners in Grand Rapids. Not known for his scoring, Janik is a solid but unspectacular performer who plays well in his own end and will keep the opposition honest with his physical game. |
