Plus: Rugged, Physical player... Not afraid to drop the gloves... Will battle in the corners... Soft hands and good offensive instincts... Energy player plays a hitting game... Good on-ice focus and intensity... Makes others around him play "bigger"... A "big game" player, rises to the occasion... |
Minus: Foot Speed, while improved, is only adequate... Penchant for undisciplined play and bad penalties... |
Organizational Comments: "I think the biggest word that comes to me is maturity. I think Darryl has matured a lot and he's seen the value of leadership, and the value of being a hard worker, a guy that wants to win and forge his career and move it forward. Both while he's here and in the future of trying to move back up with the Red Wings, and he's jumped right back on their radar." Griffins Head Coach Greg Ireland |
What GRC says: 2006-07: Darryl had an up and down season, battling inconsistency as he bounced around the lineup. His production slipped in the second half as well as his effectiveness. Still has the ability to change a game with his physical play and clutch scoring, he just doesn't do it as often. Despite cutting his penalty minute total almost in half from last season, Booter let his frustration dictate his play too much down the stretch and in the postseason. 2005-06: Booter ran into a little trouble late in the season where his reputation and his temper got thte better of him. He still came within a stones throw of his first 30-goal season and should be in the NHL next season, either in Detroit or another organization. 2004-05: When Greg Ireland took over as coach in February, Bootland's play fell off. He did not see much ice time and was removed from the powerplay, finishing with 34 points and 336 penalty minutes. Still, he is a solid pro. 2003-04: The fiesty winger's season got off to a great start, earning him a 22-hame NHL call-up. After his return to Grand Rapids, Bootland lost his scoring touch, intensity, and physical presence. 2002-03: Darryl got off to a slow start as a professional, and ended up in Toledo (ECHL). He fought his way back and turned a great second half into a callup to Grand Rapids (AHL) where he quickly established himself as a fan favorite. Played well enough in GR to earn a regular spot in the lineup and scored some big goals in the postseason. |
