#12 Brent Raedeke
Pos: Center
D.O.B.: 5/29/90
From: Regina, Saskatchewan
Height: 6'
Weight: 190
Shoots: Left
Drafted: Undrafted
Acquired: Signed three year contract with Detroit 9/30/08
Personal:
Plus: Character player... Great work ethic... Strong skater with very good speed... Good defensive awareness... Soft hands... Will play physical beyond size...
Minus: Needs to get stronger... Not a natural goal scorer... Intensity level needs to improve...
Organizational Comments: "(Raedeke) is a real good player, he's got good hockey sense. We just want to see him in the gym. He has to get physically stronger." Wings GM Ken Holland
What GRC says: 2012-13: Raedeke fell out of favor and out of the lineup in the second half, at one point even being farmed out to Toledo (ECHL). He was a healthy scratch for the post-season and is now out of the organization after not being tendered a qualifying offer by Detroit.
2011-12: Raedeke lost ground to Aubry and Ferraro and subsequently ended up bouncing around (and out of) the lineup. He was challenged to bring a little more grit and intensity and battle more. He took advantage of injuries and recalls to re-establish himself and ended strong, scoring 8 points in his last 19 games. Brent has one more season left on his entry level contract and will need to step up a notch to stay on the radar. 2010-11: Rookie speedster improved marginally during the second half as glimpses of his offensive game came out with more ice time. He has tremendous speed and agility and is more skilled than his numbers would indicate. The area he really excels is on the forecheck, where he is a demon, using his speed and grit to steel the puck and keep it deep. The experience he gained this season should pay dividends next season.
2009-10: Brent had a whirlwind season, starting out the first half as one of the leading scorers in the WHL before being dealt to the Brandon Wheat Kings. Western League powerhouse Brandon went on a long Memorial Cup playoff run, falling just short of the championship, but providing great experience for Raedeke. The speedy center is now ready to turn pro and try his luck in Grand Rapids (AHL). 2008-09: Raedeke stood out on an expansion team in the WHL, and was noticed by the Wings scouting staff despite meager numbers. After a stand out camp, he was signed to an entry level contract with the organization and had a great year in junior. Very similar in style to Darren Helm, Raedeke could turn out to be quite a steal.
Role: Two way Forward
Projection: NHL 3rd liner
