Grand Rapids Adds Reinforcements
Scott Barney and Jason Beckett signed...

The Grand Rapids Griffins added a key player to the roster today with the signing of winger Scott Barney. Barney, a former 1st rnd pick of the LA Kings has seen a very promising career derailed due to injury woes. Last season he stayed healthy and produced 32 goals in 53 games for the Chicago Wolves (AHL).
Also signed today to a Professional Try Out contract was defenseman Jason Beckett. Beckett, a physical defenseman with a propensity for thundering hits, makes his return to pro hockey after taking last season off to attend Bethel University.
Both players are expected to be available for the season opener on Friday.
