Coach Stothers and Assistant Jimmy Paek ran the 15 players at the rink today through a spirited practice for about an hour and a half at Griff's Ice House. The question of the morning was "who is the other goalie?" in reference to the second netminder on the ice when only one is in town. A quick check with Griffin's Equipment Manager Brad Thompson (the man who knows all) revealed that the mystery masked man was a goalie from his men's league that had been summoned to help out with practice. With that taken care of it was time to see how the team was shaping up.

Observations:

It was easy to see the chemistry between Cullen and Corazzini, friends on and off the ice who have played together before in the AHL. The duo looked very good during the drills with newcomer Neil Clark on the left.

Brett Engelhardt and Adam Keefe spent a lot of time in front of the net working on tipping point shots. Keefe looks to be fully healed from his gruesome injury last spring. I asked him if he was 100% and he said he was fully healed and ready to go.

Coach Stothers left the ice early and watched the last 20 minutes from behind the glass with the rest of us. Coach Paek spent a lot of time working with rookie Jakub Kindl. He also ran Kinley and Galvin through a puck handling drill weaving in and out of water bottles for cones.

If the players on the ice today are representative of the team this season, the Griffins will be much faster than last year. Coach Stothers likes what he has seen, but did say he wasn't sure whom he would have to work with when the season starts.
