Frankie Pare scored his 10th of the season late in the game to help lift his team over the visiting Rochester Americans 4-3 at Van Andel Arena. The Griffins climbed their way back out of a 2-0 whole half way through the game on a pair of goals from Joakim Andersson (15,16) before rookie Louis-Marc Aubry (5) gave them their first lead of the game, before Pare's late game heroics were needed. Ty Conklin made 34 saves to record his 4th straight win.

Lots of huge hits along the boards, and it finally boils over with Callahan and Foligno squaring off. The Griffins' rookie enforcer couldn't reach his opponent and took a beating. Delayed penalty on Grand Rapids and Rochester got the extra skater on the ice before McNabb beat Conklin. Shots on goal: GR 11 - Roc 11.

Rochester made it 2-0 on a scrambly play early in the period. Conklin was down and way out when Adam fired the puck into the empty net. Pyett got behind the defense for a chance, but ran out of room and couldn't get a shot off. Andersson took a pass from Nyquist, walked up the slot and wristed a shot past Leggio. Shots on goal: GR 9 - Roc 16.

Pyett fired a weak shot on net from the point and Andersson picked up the rebound and put it in the net to knot the score at two. The Griffins took their first lead of the game midway through the period when Aubry buried the rebound of a Pare shot for his fifth of the year. Brennan tied things up again when his shot from the point on the powerplay changed direction and just dipped in under the bar. Late in the period Pare picked up his own rebound while cutting in front of the net and Leggio stick side. The Amerks summoned their goalie to the net for the extra attacker, but couldn't get the equalizer. Shots on goal: GR 12 - Roc 9. For the Game: GR 32 - Roc 37.

Observations:

Gleason Fournier had a tough welcome back to the AHL. He was smoked behind the net and took two costly penalties before finding himself glued to the bench for a large portion of the game.

The lines have really stabilized and all seem to be playing hard. The 4th line with Aubry, Parkes and Callahan provided a physical presence and some energy, and Aubry some time centering the 3rd line as well. The three Swedes line continues to show great chemistry, and Conner and Pare have gotten each other going as well.

Conklin did a great job to keep his team in this game as they had a tough first half and didn't really start helping him until later in the game.
