| 1987 Rookie Camp Notes |

| Detroit conducted its first ever rookie camp (according to interviews with team officials) at Oak Park Arena September 6th - 9th. This group was full of future NHL'ers including Kris King, Joe Murphy, Adam Graves, Brent Fedyk, Yves Racine and Tim Cheveldae. Radomir Brazda was invited to camp, but was stuck behind the iron curtain and was a no-show. Left Wing Mike Gober also was unable to participate as he recovered from injuries suffered in a serious car accident during the off-season and wouldn't be able to play until February 1988. Eleven players were advanced to the main camp including the aforementioned King, Fedyk, Murphy, Graves and Racine along with prospects Thomas Bjuhr, Bill Shibicky (MSU), Gord Kruppke, Rob Doyle, Bob Wilkie and net minder Mark Reimer. |
