| For the first time in nearly 30 years, the Red Wings did not host the Prospects Tournament in Traverse City, instead participating in a small tournament with the Dallas Stars Prospects in Texas. The two teams played a pair of games against each other splitting the two decisions. The Detroit prospects outscored Dallas 11-8 with Rudy Guimond turning in 40 shutout minutes between the pipes in game one. Amadeus Lombardi led the way with 5 points, closely followed by Michael Brantsegg-Nygard (4 pts), Shai Buium and Carson Bantle with 3 points each. Carter Bear was held out of the tournament as he recovers from last years season ending achilles surgery.
