| The reigning Stanley Cup Champions opened camp missing some key pieces as several players did not report to camo, instead holding out for new contracts. Missing were Sergei Fedorov, Slava Kozlov, Slava Fetisov and rookie Jan Golubovsky. This camp marked the first visit to Traverse City (Hockeytown North) for camp, a tradition that would last nearly the next 30 years. The Wings invited 58 players to camp, 21 amateurs and 37 professionals. They are made up of 7 netminders, 15 defenseman and 36 forwards. Besides the parent club, players will be placed with the Adirondack Red Wings (AHL), the team's primary affiliate. |
