| The Wings have tentatively invited 62 players to camp. Their are 20 amateurs and 42 professionals. They are made up of 7 netminders, 21 defenseman and 35 forwards. Besides the parent club, players will be placed with one of the two farm clubs, The AHL's Grand Rapids Griffins, and the Toledo Storm (ECHL). Center Andrew McKim was the lone tryout to sign a contract with Detroit, even earning a two game stint in the NHL. On October 1st the NHL locked out the players, stalling the 1994-95 season for 103 days until January, 1995. Two players who had made the club during training camp were subsequently claimed on waivers in January as the NHL had an abreviated second training camp and waiver draft to start the shortened season. Rookie policeman Craig Martin and utility center Micah Aivazoff were claimed by Winnipeg and Pittsburgh respectively. Detroit added key stanley cup cog Doug Brown from Pittsburgh. |
