What GRC says: 2012-13: Andersson was on a hot streak when he was recalled by Detroit and took a regular spot in the lineup. After the Wings fell to Chicago he was returned to Grand Rapids and helped tip the balance of power in the Oklahoma City series. The plucky center added 8 points in 10 games to the attack but was uncharacteristically a minus player. We have likely seen the last of him as he graduates to full time work in Detroit next season.
2011-12: Andersson continued his evolution into a top defensive forward, adding a consistent offensive element to his arsenal. He racked up 30 points in the second half while still playing a physical, defensively responsible game. It remains to be seen whether he has the speed or intensity to take his game to the next level, but he has certainly earned a chance to try. 2010-11: It took the talented Swede awhile to find his offensive game, but towards the end of the season he was starting to pick up the pace. His size and strength served him well defensively, and he was a solid player for most of the year. His skating did not appear to be sub par as advertised, and he has the look of someone who could play an NHL style game. Look for him to make more of an impact next season.
2008-09: Thrown directly into the pressure cooker, Andersson had just one game of experience before being made a regular for the playoffs. He acquitted himself quite well, posting 4 points in 11 games while playing a physical game. Centering the second line, he was highly visible, winning battles in front, aggressively wading into the scrums, and making some nice plays with puck. He could use some work on his quickness, and add a little more bulk to his frame, but he has another year in the SEL to work on those things.
Spring 2009: Andersson is still committed to playing in Sweden for at least another season, but the wings wanted to get a look at him over here prior to his contract deadline. His complimentary skill set should work nicely in the Griffins lineup if he gets a chance to play.
